For the 18th year, a diverse community of friends and allies came together for the Migrant Trail, a journey that is intended to raise awareness about the deaths of migrants on the Arizona-Sonora border. This year, however, happened during the global pandemic of COVID-19, and thus was not able to happen in person. Instead, the event was held virtually. Daily reflections, readings, podcasts and daily live webinars were the format, with Q&A sessions following each webinar.
The events of the week are shared here. We invite you to learn more about (im)migration in border communities, and the ways in which we are called to bear witness. The Alternative Migrant Trail 2021 was also a fundraiser, with all proceeds going to border organizations whose work was highlighted during the week. In all, we raised $13,439.11, which was $3,359.78 to each organization. In that spirit, if you use any of the curated materials or videos here, we strongly recommend you consider making a donation to the organizations whose labor they represent.
